Forming A Sleeping Pattern For Your Baby
Your baby can be help to sleep by Pavlov’s dogs. Pavlov’s dogs provided a way for babies to sleep. If you have heard of Ivan Pavlov and his dogs experiment then you know and appreciate the conditioning benefits. The dog’s were taught that when the bell rang it was a cue to eat. The dogs overtime got used to timetable and associated a bell ring with food. Easy, right? Each time the bell rang the dogs would go to the place they were served with food as they knew it was eating time. We will discuss a baby’s sleep training and not dogs cue to feed.
The training aspect of both the dogs and the baby are similarly the only difference is that we know the baby is not a dog. Keenly follow the baby’s routine and look out for sleeping cues.
These will be essential in helping your baby to sleep because you will look out for the time she sleeps and what she does and know that the is preparing to sleep.
This is a noble thought. It may sound easy to read but it is not. There are some components which should be captured for it to work.
One, you need a constant organized timetable for the baby on a daily basis. The reason behind this is that a schedule leads to consistency which to predictability. If the schedule is followed constantly on a daily basis you will know what to expect and also what follows after that and be able to know the sleep cue.
There are times when you feel you would like you should help the baby settle and other times you feel like letting her sleep on her own.
There are times when you have to sway the baby and this should be consistent and gentle.
Swaying rhythms helps a baby to go to sleep. In case you need to use swaying to help the baby go to sleep it should be done gently because if it is fast the baby will get a signal that it is expected to play.
In case you do not have a schedule it is about time to draft one. A cue could involve bathtime. Children pick schedules faster so if you start it by bathing followed by activities geared towards bedtime by the time you tell the child to go to sleep it will be easy.
To conclude, babies start their lives in the womb, and they more accustomed to it. It is unlikely to come into the world with a lot of vigor as it can cause an insecurity feeling by the baby. A baby should be assisted to shift from womb to the world smoothly as this will ensure they sleep better.
